Drinking And Driving & How Creators Of Bus Wraps Can Focus On It

By Katie Arden

When it comes to the types of subjects that students and children alike will be exposed to the most, it's hard to deny the impact that drinking and driving can have. There are various dangers to be seen here and there should be attention drawn to this particular topic through various means. Is it possible that items like bus wraps can make this more of a focal point? Judging by a recent article that spoke about the benefits of billboards, I have reason to believe that this is true.

A report was posted on CN Weekly and it talked about a billboard that was designed in order to drive the attention of individuals towards drunk driving. A 17-year-old high student from New York by the name of Victoria Barone created the billboard in question. What took me by surprise, though, was the way that this was executed. As anyone who creates bus wraps will be able to tell you, implementation is crucial when it comes to the out-of-home advertising process and this is no different.

According to the article, the billboard showed the word "intoxicated" but the term "toxic" was made more prominent within the longer word. To say that this is a simple idea would be an understatement but one could make the argument that it is the simplest items that can have the greatest impact. Take, for example, the vehicle wrap that was created by Tabitha McGill, another high school student from the same campus. Her drinking and driving wrap showed the effective tag, "your life is greater than that text."

Both of these concepts are great for driving awareness towards a strong cause and I am sure that companies like JMR Graphics would be able to agree. Bus wraps and billboards can be created with the highest level of quality set in place, provided the manufacturers are up to the task. Out-of-home advertising holds a tremendous amount of potential, which means that it should not be overlooked. If anything, it can be argued that this form of advertising should be used more often.

It's clear that there are many causes that can garner attention and I am of the opinion that drunk driving is one of the most prominent. Many aspects will be able to help bolster this message, though, and the implementation of bus wraps and billboards alike cannot hurt. However, it is not enough for them to simply be utilized; they must also be constructed with the highest level of quality set in place. If this is done, I have no doubt that the messages being conveyed will be even stronger.
