Adding Farm Girl Clothing To Your Wardrobe

By Harriet Porter

If wearing country apparel is your distinct style, you can find so many ways and means to reflect this in your clothing choices. Farm girl clothing has many elements that can easily be integrated into your current wardrobe. This style will give the wearer an authentic rural look and a refreshing new method of reviving and using your clothing selections that you have now.

The main staple of this style of clothing is, of course, denim. Jeans, shorts, jackets, coats, skirts and bib overalls will all reflect an authentic country lifestyle. They can be purchased in a wide array of shades and tones but the newer and darker styles will not fit in this category. Choosing faded, worn and sometimes even torn or distressed jeans are what will work the very best with the other country clothing articles that you have selected.

Boot-cut jeans will look the most authentic. Skinny jeans and jeggings are both more modern, contemporary uses of denim and will probably not give you the authentic look you are seeking. Bib overall short-alls will look amazing with a tank top, tube top or plain tee shirt.

A very close relative to denim is chambray, especially blue chambray. This much lighter weight material can be worn as shirts, skirts or short or long dresses. The apparel can become even more of a country-style if you add Western buttons, trim or snaps. Chambray compared to denim is like tea is to sugar - they complement each other very well and present a united look and appeal.

Another common fabric pattern to wear is checks. A red or blue check will look great in both shirts and dresses and are a strong vintage staple. Integrating embroidery, buttons or ties to these articles will make them stand out even better. If you wear these with denim, you are in possession of a standard look that can be worn at any country-style event.

Checks can also be utilized in your accessories. Add this pattern to headbands, belts, and even purses or satchels. Wear complementing red or blue sandals to set off the outfits you assemble.

Different bandana prints added to the accessories and apparel chosen will give it an even more rural look. Skirts, shirts, light-weight tops, halters and dresses can become an instant hit with these well-known and loved designs. Wearers are not just limited to red and blue as there are so many other colors to choose from including green, yellow and orange.

Add a definite feminine touch to this category and you will not be at all disappointed in the variety of peasant blouses, long skirts and delicate flower-print dresses that are available. Adding unique footwear and vintage accessories will give your outfit a definite country appeal.

Add boots to your clothing for a finishing touch. Cowboy boots, laced up boots or granny shoes will give your outfit that last impact that you will need. Worn with boot-cut jeans or a long flowered skirt, these will give your attire a punch that will set your outfit apart from all the others.

You can wear this type of attire almost anywhere in the city, country or town. It is indicative of an earthy, solid personality with strength and tenacity. Just because you may live in a city, doesn't mean that a little bit of country doesn't still live within you.
