How Executive Recruiters Shortlist Qualified Applicants

By Dominique Martin

Many people have always wanted to be considered for jobs on many platforms. Unfortunately, they send applications to the companies of their choice without receiving any replies. The good news however is that you can send your applications to Executive recruiters for your chance to be considered, whenever there are openings in a variety of companies that this agency deals with. The agency offers a wide range of professional talent to thousands upon thousands of companies. It offers services ranging from executive recruitment to lower positions.

Due to this, the company is always bombarded with lots of applications from job seekers who then find jobs as professionals in different platforms and capacities. However, many people after applying to this agency complain of having their applications ignored. Below are some of the reasons why this happens.

When the agency advertises a job opening, they expect only qualified applicant to apply. They are normally very specific, and they expect each applicant to read all the requirements before applying. When your application does not meet the set criteria, they take it that either you did not read fully the job advertisement, or you did not read it at all. They will therefore not spend time on your application.

Other things to consider when doing your application, especially the application letter, is typing errors or spelling mistakes. This definitely disqualifies you and you will never hear from them. Make sure your grammar is unmatched and that you proofread and spell check your cover letter before you finally submit it. They get the impression that you are careless, lazy and a person who cannot even proofread a simple application letter.

When doing such an application, make sure that your resume is up to the point. This is because the recruiters always have little time to go through the resumes. Note that they receive overwhelming applications on a given day and therefore, they do not have all the time in the word to go through all of them exhaustively. Therefore, you must be simple to read, short and that goes directly to the point.

On the other hand, it may be your resume that does not clearly get to the point. All applicants should know that the recruiter devotes less time on each resume. Therefore, if yours will not be on point, they will just have to ignore it and find one that is on point.

There are times when the recruiter has to call you to validate the information you have given them or just to interview you a little bit. Always be composed during this time. Listen to the question and answer it appropriately. Never give too much information than is needed. A lot of people barely passes this stage, due to under communication or over communication.

Others include your attitude, do not be overconfident as it can be read from your application. There are a lot more things that you need to check before submitting your job application. Remember recruiters have limited time against an overwhelming number of applications on a given day. If all these are corrected, chances of an application going through will be more.
