In case you lie about something, you'll soon have a hard time patching that lie but if you tell the truth in the first place then you'll have no worries. Having to be honest or truthful in whatever you say enables you not only to earn trust from your colleagues but will also help you in gaining friends or people you can rely on within the workplace.

Do only good things

If you're a leader, people will follow you not because you told them to do so but because they see that you're a good example - you lead by example therefore you do what is expected of you. Helping others as well as doing good things which benefits everyone then becomes a habit upon continued practice - it then becomes innate within you. Don't be selfish and do things only to benefit yourself. Always consider others in what you do. As soon as you establish this practice or habit you'll instantly have people trusting you.

Be consistent

You should treat everyone just like everyone else - no special treatment and no looking down on others. As a leader, you shouldn't have priorities regarding people to consider - give chance to others. Helping or supporting others is a genuine act of kindness which instantly enables others to feel close to you thus making them also trust you.
